The aim of the conference was to have an integral look at a wide range of topical issues related to the use of amber and its derivatives in medicine and pharmacy, from antiquity until now.
How justified is the application of amber as a universal therapeutic agents occurring in the sources of past eras, and in modern literature? How are the ancient myths about the amazing properties of amber differ from the present-day myths? What is the scientific basis as well as the prospects for the use of amber in modern medicine? These and other issues were discussed as topics of the conference.
At the plenary session, Dr.sc.ing. Inga Lyashenko presented a report Selection of Polymer Baltic Amber and Analysis of its Biomechanical Parameters. Modern Strategy for Expert Success Medical Applications in Biotextile Industry. Dr.sc.ing. Inga Ļašenko was also a participant of the Organizing Committee and a moderator of the conference (Section 1) on 14.09.2015. All reports were presented at a high scientific level and aroused a considerable interest in the conference participants.
On 15 September 2015, exhibition Amber: Myths and Science was opened in the Hall Amber Museum. Among many exhibits, a stand with amber threads was presented as well as a stage-by-stage transition from raw amber strands to granules. Among other guests, a greeting speech was presented by Mrs. Inga Skruzmane, Consul of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Republic of Latvia Kaliningrad, the Russian Federation, which supported the conference.
